This video talks about different surgical options for lung cancer. Thoracic lobectomy is a surgical procedure to remove one of the lobes from the lung. Different surgical options for tissue removal includes; Wedge Resection- removal of small portion of lung (where the tumor exists), Segmentectomy- removal of a segment of the lung or larger piece of lung tissue, Lobectomy- removal of one lobe of the lung and Pneumonectomy- removal of all the lobes of one lung. performing of lobectomy can be done in two ways; Open Surgery and Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS). VATS is considered minimally invasive as it has minimal incisions.
