We're surprised how many states are "closed" to direct-to-consumer sales of new vehicles. EVs get a spotlight in this conversation since Tesla and Rivian are the first automakers to use the direct-to-consumer model. Up until this point Tesla has been able to navigate through loopholes that allow them to have showrooms in some closed states since they've never sold through a dealership.
But what about Rivian? Will they be able to drive through the same loophole?
