Lykke Leonardsen from the municipality of Copenhagen presents the cities climate change adaptation strategy focusing on rainwater management. After an intense cloudburst in July 2010 Copenhagen decided to re-evaluate their approach to rainwater, with the creation of streets, squares and holding basins that can store and accommodate extra water when periods of intense rainfall occur. The design of these places enhances the quality of the public space creating benefits for the cities residents.
This presentation was part of the Stad-Forum "Week van de Stad" water cities symposium at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam.
