So if you watched the previous video in this series you will have seen that the Vevor Chinese 7x14 lathe I had purchased in January had a defective footplate on the Tailstock. The V notch that guides it was not cut to the right depth. I worked with Vevor to try and fix this problem. Since I do not have a mill I was unable to cut the notch deeper myself properly. Vevor offered me this:

So the first option, given the costs for materials and setup would have run about $700 at a good shop. Out of the question.
The second option is what I was trying to get them to do, but the company in China that actually makes these machines was just ignoring Vevor.
In the end, I went with door #3 and took the 35% refund.
So then, I give Vevor a good rating for addressing my problem, not quite the way I wanted, but still they did what they could. The problem is, the Chinese maker of that lathe is still sending out junk.
The new tailstock comes from the company Little Machine Shop. Again they are selling reasonably good stuff. Having said that, I do wish that they would sit on their vendor for this tailstock to improve finish paint quality. Aside from that, the tailstock should be a good investment.
