I thought my Nikon Nikkormat FT Shutter was broken. Every other frame the shutter wouldn't fire. After taking the lens off the camera, I noticed the shutter would fire just fine. So I know the problem was with the lens not the camera. Fortunately, I have other Nikon lenses for this camera. So I grabbed one and compared both lenses. There is a mechanism on the lens that had been jammed. Applying pressure to the mechanism I was able to make it loose as it should be. I put the lens back on the camera and it functioned properly again. Then I had to figure out how that happened. After playing around with it I learned that if you put the lens on wrong or take it off incorrectly, essentially forcing it off or on when not in the f5.6 stop position, the mechanism gets jammed on the lens. Hopefully this helps anyone who encounters this problem.
