Amenhotep I (d. 1504 BC) was the second pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. He ruled from 1525 BC to 1504 BC and was the third son of Ahmose I and Ahmose-Nefertari.
His reign lasted for twenty years and seven months (1514-1493 BC). He continued the policies of reform and construction initiated by his father, Ahmose. Amenhotep I also suppressed some rebellions in Nubia. From his time onwards, the permanent Egyptian occupation extended to the Second Cataract, which was placed under the authority of a special administrator, the Viceroy of Kush. As a result, he was able to systematically exploit the local gold mines.
