A simple way of measuring the tailstock alignment. As many other tips & tricks of the trade, this was learned from the professor.. Richard King that is. Could be used both when adjusting sideways as well as for finding the amount of wear most often introduced, ie. tailstock low, possible also pointing downwards, which in turn can be used to choosing the shim thickness needed (if this is your method of leveling it again eg. after having scraped the base)
