This Post-Show Talk features dance choreographer Ginette Laurin, the artistic director of O Vertigo Danse, along with dancer Robert Meilleur and percussionist Philip Hornsey, in conversation with Jacob's Pillow Scholar-in-Residence Philip Szporer. The Talk took place on August 9, 2013 following a performance by O Vertigo Danse with the Ensemble de la Société de Musique Contemporaine du Québec at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, MA.
Post-Show Talks are held at Jacob's Pillow Dance on Fridays in the Ted Shawn Theatre and Thursdays in the Doris Duke Theatre and offer an opportunity for audiences to gain more insight into performances directly from the artists themselves.
The preceding dance performance featured a revival of "La Vie Qui Bat (The Beat of Life)," an evening-length program choreographed by Ginette Laurin in 1999, set to a live performances of Steve Reich's "Drumming" conducted by Walter Boudreau. The Montreal-based O Vertigo Danse made its Jacob's Pillow debut in 1990 and most recently appeared at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in 2000.
These videos are part of Seeing Dance, Talking Dance, a project of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, encouraging different ways of seeing, discussing, and appreciating dance. This program is supported by Engaging Dance Audiences, administered by Dance/USA and made possible with generous funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
