Dear friends, today is an Independence Day of Ukraine, so I would like to introduce you to Ukrainian music.
Me and my friend - amazing Ukrainian pianist Svitlana Kolieva, would like to present you the cover for the Ukrainian song, which is called “Cheremshyna”. (Ukrainian: Черемшина)
“Cheremshyna” - known as bird cherry, resembles cherry blossom. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find exactly this flower, since we recorded the video not in Ukraine, but on the beautiful Jeju island, in South Korea. However, I believe the beauty of the island with its’ abundance of blossoms will catch it up…
Regarding the song. “Cheremshyna” is a Ukrainian romance song, first released in 1965, with music by Vasyl Mykhailyuk and lyrics by Mykolaiv Yurinchuk it has became a classics in Ukrainian pop music. There’s has be dozens of different interpretations of this song, performed by hundreds of musicians, but we would like to present you our own vision. I think my friend Svitlana created a very intimate and sensitive arrangement, inspired by Chopin’s pieces.
We wanted to make it special. Very delicate and intimate, timid and beautiful of course.
We worked hard on this piece, and we hope you will like it! Please comment! We want to know your opinion!!!!
And finally, don't forget that Ukrainian people keep fighting for Independence!!! Stand with Ukraine!!! Support and donate!!!
