The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a video game where you play alone and take on a role in a fantasy world. It was made by Bethesda Game Studios and released by Bethesda Softworks.

This game is the fifth in a series and comes after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, set about 200 years later. They announced the game on November 11, 2010, and it came out on November 11, 2011. It has new features like Radiant A.I. and Radiant Storytelling to make quests more interesting, as well as better graphics.


The story plot:
Two hundred years have passed since the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and now it's the year 4E 201. In Skyrim, where the game takes place, the High King has been killed, and there's a big problem - some people want to break away from the weakened Third Empire, while others want to stay a part of it. To make things even worse, this split is the last event in a prophecy predicted by the Elder Scrolls that says dragons, led by Alduin, the Nordic god of destruction, will come back.

In the game, you start off as a character on a cart, being taken to be punished after getting caught with the Stormcloaks in an attack by the Imperial Legion. Just when you're about to be in big trouble, a dragon named Alduin shows up and causes chaos. With the help of some Stormcloaks and their leader Ulfric Stormcloak, you manage to escape. You can choose to team up with Ralof, a Stormcloak, or Hadvar, an Imperial soldier. Later on, after gaining the favor of Jarl Balgruuf the Greater, you find out that you're Dovahkiin, or Dragonborn, and it's your job to defeat Alduin and the dragons.

As the story goes on, you meet Delphine and Esbern, two of the last Blades, and become a student of the respected Greybeards of High Hrothgar.


The main character in the game is called the Dragonborn, and people usually call them that. The Dragonborn can be a guy or a girl, and they can belong to one of ten different groups. Each group has a special power and gets better at certain skills. For example, Nords are good at fighting and can scare enemies for a little bit.

The Dragonborn can have one friend at a time to travel and fight with them. There are 45 friends to choose from in the regular game, and 13 more if you get extra stuff.

Besides the Dragonborn's friend and the main bad guy, Alduin, other important characters in the Skyrim story are Balgruuf, the leader of Whiterun; Arngeir, the leader of the Greybeards; Delphine and Esbern, who are some of the last people in a group called the Blades; and Paarthurnax, the last dragon and leader of the Greybeards. Also, there are Ulfric and General Tullius, who lead the Stormcloaks and Imperial Legion. In the game, the Dragonborn can choose to help either side in a big war.

The Dragonborn can also join other groups like the Companions, who are brave warriors; the College of Winterhold, where they learn about magic; the Thieves Guild, a group of sneaky thieves; and the Dark Brotherhood, a gang of assassins.
