Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held meeting at BMC office over flood situation. He said that Mumbai has received around 300mm rain, which is much more than the present capacity of the system to handle. He further said that Disaster Management Authorities, Railway, NDRF and BMC are on alert.
He said, “Since last night, Mumbai has received around 300mm rain, around 200 water pumps of the Railways and more than 480 BMC water pumps are in service to drain out water. Trains on the Central and Harbour lines have resumed. Disaster Management Authorities, Railway, NDRF and BMC are on alert. We are working on to treat water before releasing it into ocean. Micro tunneling has been done. Coastal areas; Raigarh, Ratanagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar are under orange alert. Army, Navy and Air Force are also ready to take part, if necessary.”
