ABOUT DESIGN OF PORTRAIT of A Necessary and Good Man (also titled "A Necessary and Good Black Man")
* This is my visual homage to the African American Civil Rights Icon, John Lewis in the "uniform" of a trenchcoat, suit and tie which is what he wore during the historic walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in support of Black voting in America.
* The words "Necessary Trouble... Good Trouble" by John Lewis as a call to action for civil rights and change of racial discrimination in the United States.
* He was the last of the Big Six. He passed away July 17, 2020.
ABOUT SILVERPOINT
* The silverpoint is a technique of drawing that utilizes pure silver in wire form in a stylus.
(I don’t use a stylus. I use my fingers to render the drawing)
* Due to the technique plus the size of the work, it took 1.5 weeks to create their likeness in pure silver.
* Please note that silver is an organic material. It will patina over time and the cool silver will gradually warm.
ABOUT DISPLAYING
It reflects the lighting in any room. A white wall environment and indirect lighting is best.
* Indoor or evening lights reflect warmth.
* Natural daylight shows the cool and warm tones together.
* The piece has in-depth features designed inside the image itself. It is a wonderful experience to be in the same room with the series.
