"In today's video we're going to show you three variations of the Contra Check in the Slow Foxtrot. This first demonstration is the slowest of the three and is quite popular for the Foxtrot. It's a very soft, long, continuous and flowing shaping movement. It's important to note that when choosing a style for your Contra Check, it's entirely up to your personal preference for style and feeling. We highly recommend that you try these three and other options as well to find what best suits you and your partner.

We'd like to draw your attention to our start and end position of the Contra Check which is always in a big beautiful shape, especially from the lady. It's quite common to see a reduced shape on the recovery of the Contra Check and this is best to be avoided. This is our second demonstration which involves a sharper, more dramatic head position from the lady and the man, creating a more intimate line before then producing a big shape led from the man. This shows a lot of contrast and adds a lot of colour and flair to the Contra Check.

It's important for the man to be aware not to over lead this shape with the arms and to use the body projection. And we're now on to our third and final variation which is a much faster Contra Check, in and out. This particular option might be better suited for slower choreography before or after the Contra Check ,or for faster dancers.
