Canyoneering with the kids in Yankee Doodle Canyon in April 2021. This canyon is just outside of Leeds, Utah (north-east of St. George) in Dixie National Forest. There is no permit that is needed to descend it. As such, it will be quite popular with guiding companies and the weekend warriors and others.
Our kids loved it and said it was "one of the funnest" trips they have did! In fact, in a school report a a few weeks later (and unbeknowst to us), Yankee Doodle Canyon was mentioned as a highlight of their trip! Pretty cool!
It took us 2 hours and 58 mins, although individuals without kids can go through this between one to two hours. However, if there are groups ahead of you, it will add time to your adventure.
Definitely a must if you are in the area. It packs a punch with low mileage which makes it kid friendly.
Be wary of recent storms, as the areas I mentioned in the video could now be ankle, waist, or chest deep!
