Glendale Vice Mayor Yvonne Knaack's new edition of the TV show "Glendale Today" explores the various programs and opportunities offered by Glendale Community College to students of all ages. Vice Mayor Knaack, who attended GCC, interviews the school's president, Dr. Irene Kovala, about topics ranging from student life outside academics to the role community colleges play in the community.
Among the programs covered during the 30-minute show are developmental education and disability services, nursing and the arts, and the college's sustainability efforts with its goal to become carbon-neutral by 2025. Knaack, who represents the Barrel District in Glendale, is also a member of the city's Sustainability Subcommittee, which focuses on green initiatives for city processes.
The show begins airing Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. "Glendale Today" is produced by staff from the city-owned TV station Glendale 11. The show will air daily on Glendale 11 as well as online via the city's video library at www.glendaleaz.com/video and exclusive segments can be found on the city's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/MyGlendale11.
