I tow my 2016 Bayliner 170 with my 2013 Subaru Outback 2.5i, and thought others might be interested to see how this combination performs.
I did put a transmission cooler on for longer drives, and have had no problems. Bought the car new and it has 180K miles on it today. The boat trailer does have trailer brakes, which helps so that the car isn't doing all of the braking.
The trick to pulling the boat up with no slipping is to hold the break down as you give it gas, then slowly release the brake.
