Grab your old shirts! In this video, I'll teach you how to make tote bags from an old t-shirt...without any sewing! Not only is this free to you, you can also divert stained or battered t-shirts from entering the waste stream by giving them a new life. So it's kinda the perfect zero waste upcycle!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Tshirt
Scissors
30 Minutes
DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut off sleeves and neck to the desired size
2. Use a large object as a guide to the depth of your bag. Then, starting at the bottom cut strips up to the bottom of the large object. The strips should be about .5" in width.
3. Turn the bag inside out and knot all pairs of strips
4. Using the tails of the knots, knot the second row, making sure to fill in any holes
5. Turn inside out again and stretch the armholes and neck to mask any imperfections. Enjoy!

DISCLAIMER: I do not consider myself fully "Zero Waste" but do use the principles of the Zero Waste movement to help me decide how to reduce the amount of waste I produce. I'm simply on a journey toward living the most ecofriendly but comfortable life possible, so what is "Zero Waste" to me may look different for you.
