Scotland has made some wonderful contributions to the world of food. From haggis to stovies, from oatcakes to square sausage! This week, Munch takes on the challenge of a potato scone, or as it's more fondly known, the tattie scone. We had no idea that they were made like this, but they look delicious. Best served in a well-fired morning roll, with square sausage, and a glass of ginger on the side! Scottish food is great!
All you need is some flour, potatoes and butter. And of course, some oil to fry it in...
Ingredients
500g potatoes
40g butter
125g flour
Method
Boil and mash the potatoes, add butter and flour to give a stiff mixture.
Turn out onto floured surface, knead lightly and roll out to a thickness of 1cm.
Cut a circle out using a plate, and cut into quarters to make triangles. Cook in a hot greased pan til they're golden brown on each side.
Serve hot, with a square sausage in a roll...
