This Parker DF824SA, serial Number P1012020, has a SWAMP ASH body w/Basswood neck. I'm told the Swamp Ash DF824's are quite rare. I have swapped the single coil pups and installed Lollar Dirty Blond pups. In my opinion the guitar sounds fantastic and probably better in person than my humble demo can show.
For some unknown reason, the folks at US Music, owners of the Parker brand, chose to put Duncan SSL-6 single coils in. These have a nominal impedance of about 13k Ohms, which is nowhere near the 5k - 6k Ohms of a great sounding vintage single coil. The pups left the guitar with no "shimmer" or brilliance. Being a Nashguitars dealer I am familiar with Jason Lollar's incredible single coils and felt they would really bring out the true voice of the Swamp Ash DF824. I am very pleased with how they complement the guitar.
The amp is a Blackface 1966 Fender Super Reverb, which by all accounts will make any guitar sound good and a great guitar sound that much better. But really, a great amp is transparent and just lets the tone of the instrument come through. I use the DF824 with lots of amps - solid state, tube, vintage - and it's just a fine sounding thing. With the Lollars.
I welcome your comments. Thanks very much for spending some time here.
Peace,
Murali
