I used to have severe social that kept me locked in my own world. This in turn prevented me to gain social skills that are needed in everyday life. Needless to say, my phone skills were equally poor. In fact I used to be afraid of making phone calls just as much as I was afraid of picking up the phone.
It was simply something that made my anxiety go through the roof.
Every time that I had to make an important phone call, I started to shake and my heart started pumping like I was running a marathon.
My phone phobia was so severe that I had to wait for all my coworkers to leave the office before I was ready to pick up the phone. And even when they left I wasn’t really ready.
However, I was somehow forced to get on top of this problem because my job required me to make phone calls as well.
One day my boss actually confronted me about this problem I had and told me to do something about or else I might get fired.
This was certainly something that made me want to find away to stop being afraid of making phone calls.
So I developed a strategy that helped me out a lot. This simple strategy that I also share with you in the video, allowed me to become more relaxed before dialing the numbers in.
So what is this strategy all about?
Well, it’s all about preparation.
I’ve found out that the better prepared I am the less stressed I get about making the call.
In fact, being prepared allows me to know exactly what needs to be done and this gives me a sense of readiness.
Basically, you just need to answer a couple of questions that help you see the bigger picture or the goal that you need to accomplish over the phone.
However, being prepared isn’t the only way to get yourself more relaxed.
