The way we communicate with one another seems to change on an almost daily basis as new technology becomes available and enters the mainstream. One form of communication, chat technology, has been around for many years, but Convore has a new idea about how to make chat more relevant for today's world.
Leah Culver, Co-Founder and CEO of Convore, is no stranger to this space and is a longtime chat enthusiast. As a co-founder of Pownce, a social networking and micro-blogging site that no longer exists, she discovered that over half of everything sent using Pownce was a reply to another message as opposed to a top level entry. "What I realized is that people really want to do this online," explains Culver. "We love chatting. We love having conversations, so what I wanted to do was build a tool that really allowed people to get into groups and converse and have that experience."
Convore aims to make chat available and easy to use for the technical and non-technical alike. The tool is completely web-based, so there is nothing to download. You can signup via Facebook or Twitter, making it easy to get started, and, unlike other chat tools, Convore allows you to reserve your username forever.
Two additional differences between Convore and alternative chat tools are the way old conversations are treated and the way conversations are organized. "Everything is stored and hosted, so you can go back and look at old conversations. Also, when you come online, you can catch up on everything you've missed," says Culver. "And one of the really unique things about Convore is the concept of topics. You're in a group with friends, but you can also create topics of conversation which keeps the conversation flowing and organized."
