James Mercer Langston Hughes (February 1, 1901– May 22, 1967) was an American writer, social lobbyist, author, and dramatist from Joplin, Missouri. Probably the most punctual trend-setter of the artistic fine art, called jazz verse. Hughes is most popular as a head of the Harlem Renaissance.
Hughes also composed plays and short stories.
