It took 80 Los Angeles Firefighters over one hour to knock down a blaze that gutted the back end of a one story tailor shop located in a row of one story commercial buildings on the 1400 block of South Santee Street in L.A.’s Fashion District. Firefighters forced entry through the front of the building, advancing hoselines through the front, pushing the fire out the back of the 150 ft. long building. Firefighters in the rear ventilated the roof, preventing the fire from spreading to the front section of the building. Separate lines were laid to the back to protect exposures across the alley and cool down any “flare ups” or “hot spots.” There were no reported injuries. The cause of the late night fire was reported as suspicious and is under investigation. -MNR-
