For 3 days every June, the river around Kamakhya Mandir in the Indian state of Assam turns red. It’s believed that the Goddess is menstruating during that time and is considered very sacred.

The temple shuts down during that time as it’s believed that the Goddess requires rest. No one has been able to explain why this happens.
