A&Y Adventures to:
Mossbrae Falls, located in Dunsmuir CA!
Mossbrae Falls is 54 minutes away from Redding and is a must see waterfall! Videos and pictures definitely does not do it justice. If you are planning to visit this waterfall, we recommend you do a bit of research to familiarize yourself with parking and how to get to the waterfall. Moreover, be aware you are going to go through private property to get to the train tracks that will take you to Mossbrae Falls. --- There is another way to Mossbrae Falls from Hedge Creek Falls, but as far as we know, you'll have to cross the river for now...
When walking on the train tracks, please, please, please be mindful of your surrounding! Have good sense that if a train is coming, simply step off and let the train pass. In many areas, there are good clearing space for resting and making sure you are at a good distance from the train, especially if you are planning to take children with you. Also be mindful of sharp rocks along the tracks.
The trail overall to Mossbrae Falls is easy. Roughly 2.4 miles round trip. 45 minutes to get to the fall, and another 45 minutes back. We arrived early in the morning to beat the heat that will reach a little over 100 in the late morning. Some areas are shaded but most of the time expect to be walking under the sun and looking down as you walk on the tracks.
