Transcript: We now know the dates of the community forums for the Police Department’s new Shotspotter program. ShotSpotter is a gunfire detection technology that uses acoustic sensors, or microphones, that are placed in designated areas. The sensors are placed specifically on light poles, public buildings, or telephone poles. Once gunfire is detected, the Police Department is notified. Before the program is projected to go live in November, several community forums will be held throughout the city. The forum for Partners Against Crime Districts four and five will be held on September 10. The one for District two will be held on September 12, and the forum for District three will be held on October 8.
