Bahrain says a policeman has been killed in what authorities are calling a ‘terrorist blast’.
Seven people were injured, including four other police officers and a child, according to the Interior Ministry which says arrests have been made.

It happened on Friday evening in Karana, a mainly Shi’ite village, west of the capital, Manama.

Sporadic violence has continued since unrest in 2011 when Bahrain’s majority Shi’ites protested amid the Arab Spring revolutions in the region.
Four years on, opposition groups continue to seek democratic reform and an end to alleged discrimination at the hands of the Sunni-led monarchy.
The government in Bahrain, home to the US Navy’s fifth fleet, denies any discrimination.
