Zarra Zarra Teri Musht-e-Khak Ka Masoom Hai
Fatima, you are the pride of the Community ‐God bless it!
Your dust is holy, every particle of it.
Ye Sa’adat, Hoor-e-Sehrayi! Teri Qismat Mein Thi
Ghaziyan-e-Deen Ki Saqqayi Teri Qismat Mein Thi
You, houri of the desert,were fated to win such merit!
To give the soldiers of Islam water to drink was to be your good fortune.
Ye Jihad Allah Ke Raste Mein Be-Taegh-o-Sipar
Hai Jasarat Afreen Shauq-e-Shahadat Kis Qaddar
A jihad in the way of God, waged without sword or shield!
What courage the love of martyrdom gives!
Ye Kali Bhi Iss Gulistan-e-Khazan Manzar Mein Thi
Aesi Chingari Bhi Ya Rab, Apni Khakstar Mein Thi
O that in our autumn‐stricken garden there were flower‐buds like this!
O that a spark like this, dear Lord, could be found in our ashes!
Apne Sehra Mein Bohat Aahu Abhi Poshida Hain
Bijliyan Barse Huway Badal Mein Bhi Khawabida Hain!
In our desert many deer still hide! and in the spent clouds
Many flashes of lightning still lie dormant!
Fatima! Go Shabnam Afshan Ankh Tere Gham Mein Hai
Naghma-e-Ishrat Bhi Apne Nala-e-Matam Mein Hai
Fatima, though our grieving eyes weep tears like dew over you,
Our dirge is also a celebration song.
Raqs Teri Khak Ka Kitna Nishat Angaiz Hai
Zarra Zarra Zindagi Ke Souz Se Labraiz Hai
How thrilling is the dance of your dust,
Every atom of which is charged with life.
Hai Koi Hangama Teri Turbat-e-Khamosh Mein
Pal Rahi Hai Aik Qoum-e-Taza Iss Aghosh Mein
There is stirring in your quiet grave:
Within it a new nation is being reared.
Bekhabar Hun Gharche Un Ki Wusaat Se Mein
Afreenash Dekhta Hun Un Ki Iss Marqad Se Mein
Though I know nothing of the range of its ambition,
I see them spring to life from this tomb.
Taza Anjum Ka Faza’ay Asman Mein Hai Zahoor
Didah’ay Insan Se Na-Mehram Hai Jin Ki Mouj-e-Noor
New stars are appearing in the sky above,
Stars whose rolling waves of light have not been seen by the eyes of man;
Jo Abhi Ubhre Hain Zulmat Khana’ay Ayyam Se
Jin Ki Zou Na Ashna Hai Qaid-e-Subah-o-Sham Se
Stars just risen out of the dark dungeon of time,
Stars whose light is not hostage to day and night;
Jin Ki Tabani Mein Andaz-e-Kuhan Bhi, Nau Bhi Hai
Aur Tere Koukab-e-Taqdeer Ka Parto Bhi Hai
Stars whose radiance is both old and new,
And partakes of the splendor of the star of your destiny too.
اے فاطمہ تو آبروئے امتِ مرحوم ہے
ذرہ ذرہ تیری مشتِ خاک کا معصوم ہے
یہ سعادت حورِ صحرائی تری قسمت میں تھی
غازیانِ دیں کی سقائی تری قسمت میں تھی
یہ جہاد اللہ کے رستے میں بے تیغ و سپر
ہے جسارت آفریں شوقِ شہادت کس قدر
یہ کلی بھی اس گلستانِ خزاں منظر میں تھی
ایسی چنگاری بھی یارب اپنی خاکستر میں تھی
اپنے صحرا میں بہت آہو ابھی پوشیدہ ہیں
بجلیاں برسے ہوئے بادل میں بھی خوابیدہ ہیں
فاطمہ گو شبنم افشاں آنکھ تیرے غم میں ہے
نغمہَ عشرت بھی اپنے نالہَِ ماتم میں ہے
رقص تیری خاک کا کتنا نشاط انگیز ہے
ذرہ ذرہ زندگی کے سوز سے لبریز ہے
ہے کوئی ہنگامہ تیری تربتِ خاموش میں
پل رہی ہے ایک قومِ تازہ اس آغوش میں
تازہ انجم کا فضائے آسماں میں ہے ظہور
دیدہَ انساں سے نامحرم ہے جن کی موجِ نور
جو ابھی ابھرے ہیں ظلمتِ خانہَ ایام سے
جن کی ضو نا آشنا ہے قیدِ صبح و شام سے
جن کی تابانی میں اندازِ کہن بھی ، نو بھی ہے
اور تیرے کوکبِ تقدیر کا پرتو بھی ہے
