Sixteen years after the Twin Towers fell in New York, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation has helped disabled veterans with homes to honor this that have fought and fell after the war to end terrorism that was triggered by the attack. This year’s recipient of a smart home was Cicero native Matthew Leyva, who lost his legs in an IED attack in Afghanistan in 2011. The new home in Pompey features state of the art conveniences that will allow Leyva just as much ease to live independently as any able-bodied person can.
