It's the most famous Roman dish that has traveled the world because of its rich combination of Parmesan cheese and butter. Fettuccini Alfredo. But before this golden dish made it BIG in the United States... it lured the King and Queen of Hollywood during their honeymoon trip to Rome in the 1920s. Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford.
Their visit put "Il Vero Alfredo" on the map and opened the doors to a celebrity list with a spoonful no one could resist from - former President John F. Kennedy and his brother Bobby Kennedy to the president brought down by scandal - Richard Nixon. To royalty - Princess Grace of Monaco. To the late iconic star Elizabeth Taylor...known to Romans as the "one and only Cleopatra". To the man who created an empire with a cartoon icon we've all grown to love -- Walt Disney.
Everyone of these stars has had his or her fair share of pasta at Il Vero Alfredo. To show us how to make its signature dish Fettuccini Alfredo we're turning things over to the restaurant's top chef Davide Mora.
