& in the pond of Baneswar Shiva Temple,Cooch Behar,West Bengal Shib Dighi the pond adjacent to Baneshwar is one of the last strongholds of the critically endangered Black Softshell Turtles in West Bengal Hence this pond was declared as a HERITAGE SITE By the WEST BENGAL STATE BIODIVERSITY BOARD Local visitors who come to to Baneswar Shib Temple call the Turtles as MOHAN In the past few weeks, many individuals of Turtles have reportedly DIED in Baneshwar’s Shib DighiTemple Administration didn’t pay Attention to this The pond’s deteriorating condition was a cause of growing concern of the locals and they were worried about the Turtle Population Health 3 turtles were spotted floating abnormally On the surface of the SHIB DIGHI in OCT 22
Members of BAN, Bonding with Animal & Nature rescued the trio and handed those to the Forest Department for treatment Two of them was alive and responded treatment One Black Softshell Turtle Died In that area of Cooch Behar, West Bengal There is abundance of Black Softshell Turtle
