The Tudor Black Bay 58 was released back in 2018 to universal praise and for good reason. Tudor finally created a smaller 39mm vintage diver that wears incredibly well. Tudor then continued on to release the slightly more modern looking BB58 Blue and this was my chance to finally experience the solid refinement and simplicity of a Black Bay. The following year Tudor made waves again by introducing the Black Bay 58 925 which is not only a precious metal BB58 but one done in silver with a grey dial and bezel. This was the perfect combination for me and I had to get it.
So if these iterations of the BB58 were so seemingly perfect, why have I decided to sell both of them? Well there are quite a few reasons that slowly compounded over the years and then there is the Black Bay Pro, Tudors all new smaller sized GMT watch, based off of the Rolex Explorer II (one of my favorite watch designs). So in this video, I’m going to go over two things, first why, the BB58s more so the BB58 Blue were almost constantly near or on the proverbial chopping block even before the BB Pro came into the picture, and then I’m going to get into why the BB Pro sealed the deal and pretty much killed off my BB58s despite them being the wonderful watches that they are.
