Abstract:
Sustainability and commissioning have always been closely linked. Building commissioning is mandated for projects pursuing certain green building certifications. Many AHJ’s are enforcing IECC and Building Code Commissioning for commercial projects. Not only does Commissioning ensure optimized operations and a reduction in energy and water use; but it also reduces the global impact that our buildings have on the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This session will look at commissioning and energy management through a sustainable lens, guiding participants through the different requirements for Commissioning within various rating systems, and codes and how – as professionals – we can find a balance in integrating commissioning into all projects and show GHG reductions through reported energy savings.
