This video covers a breakdown of a red ball lesson focusing on following through. Why is this important? It helps develop racket head speed and topspin!
Exercise 1 - Fun Warm Up - This is a competitive warm up played in one service box. Both players have to hit the ball upwards and the ball has to land in the box. This is an early introduction to a rally.
Exercise 2 - Brush Action Follow Through- The coach drops the ball just over the net so the player has to hit from low to high sharply. The aim is to not hit their racket on the net! The player should focus on their follow through!
Exercise 3 - Control, Brush Follow Through - Both players control the ball with a cushion touch, re-adjust and accelerate their racket through the ball.
Exercise 4 - Controlled Rally - The coach controls the ball to slow the rally down, while the player focusing on getting into the correct position and finishing with a great follow through.
