Two thousand new patrol police are on the streets of the Ukrainian capital, Kiev - the most visible evidence that the new government is determined to take a new zero-tolerance approach to crime and corruption. The experiment has been a success so far, at least in increasing public trust and interest in the police. Calls from the public requesting help have quadrupled since the newly trained recruits started work. Now the reform is to be rolled out in other cities across the country.
