A fine start with lovely tempo and excellent voicing of lines, bringing real elegance and poise. Technical control was splendid, with excellent accuracy throughout and with some delightful touches of dynamic shading and colour. Balance remained mostly effective creating a fine overall performance.

Haydn: Allegro moderato (1st movt from Sonata in A♭,Hob. XVI:46)
Taken at a well judged tempo this was stylish playing, well managed technically, and bringing a sense of elegance and control which was most commendable. A few tiny blemishes of fluency but it was most musically shaped playing which went to the heart of the style and bringing real authority for the most part.

Hopekirk: Air (No. 3 from Suite)
Expressive playing with a fine cantabile style and a delightful overall stylistic grasp despite a few tiny smudges. There was a lovely sense of overall timing and control, bringing commendable musical direction shape and going to the heart of the overall sentiments.

Bartók: Rondo (No. 1 from Three Rondos on Folk Tunes)
A well judged opening, splendid pace and moving into the faster sections with real joy and exuberance, combined with fine technical control and accuracy. There were just a couple of very slight lapses in the momentum but it was mostly excellent, well shaped playing which showed engagement and commitment.

A fine programme and executed with real authority and poise. Accuracy and technical control were mostly splendid, bringing real engagement and style throughout. Bravo!
