In this short video, I show you how to connect a two filament automotive H4 bulb, and where each pin corresponds.
In these H4 bulbs, the left pin (as seen from behind) is the common negative contact, which supplies ground to both filaments, while the right pin is the positive contact for the front filament, which coresponds to the "dipped beams" in the car.
The middle contact is the positive for the rear filament, which coresponds to the "high beams" in the car.

Always use a fuse when connecting bulbs like these, and thick wires, since the current they draw is significant. The dipped beam filament draws around 4.2 amps, (each), and if the wire is thin it'll get hot and maybe melt the insulation. If not, it WILL melt the plastic of the fuse, so always use either thick wires, (at least 1 or 1.5 sq.mm cross section), or an automotive relay, and of course a 10 amp fuse, since the two bulbs will be connected in parallel, and since they are both 55 Watts, they will draw around 8.5 A of current. That's the typical fuse that is used by all manufacturers for the dipped beams.
And always insulate any connections properly.
