As the summer's main transfer saga continues, reports in the British media suggest that Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has personally called his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger over the availability of Robin van Persie.
With the Dutch forward refusing to sign a new contract with the London club, Wenger must decide whether to risk losing his talisman for free next summer or sell him to one of their main rivals.
Van Persie finished last season as the Premier League's top scorer with 30 goals. Another player who might be moving to Manchester is Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.
The Danish international is wanted by Premier League champions Manchester City, but it is believed Agger wants to stay at Anfield If he does make the move, he'll become City's second signing following Jack Rodwell's transfer from Everton.
The 21-year-old England international completed his move on Monday for a fee believed to be around 15 million pounds. Theo Walcott is another player being linked with a move away from the Emirates.
Inter Milan have joined Liverpool and Chelsea in expressing an interest in the Englishman's services. The 23-year-old is out of contract next summer. Fans of the North London club may have reason to be worried as Alex Song is also the topic of transfer speculation. Song is thought to be on Barcelona's radar with reports suggesting they could make a 17 million pound move for the Cameroon star.
