The new 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS features a 3.6-liter flat-six engine, which operates at optimal efficiency all the time. This engine, paired with an electrified turbocharger and an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox with an integrated electric motor, is currently exclusive to the GTS model. The previous GTS was powered by an enhanced version of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter engine found in the base Carrera. The GTS remains a step above the Carrera in the 911 lineup but isn’t as extreme as the Turbo or GT models.
Porsche states that the new engine is 40 pounds lighter. It no longer has any accessory drive since the A/C and other ancillaries are either electric, relocated inside the engine, or eliminated by the motor in the gearbox. A new 1.5-kWh 400-volt battery and several small changes in this facelift contribute to the GTS's 103-pound weight gain.
The engine produces 478 horsepower, and when combined with the 53-horsepower electric motor, the total output is 532 horsepower. This is 59 horsepower more than the previous GTS model. Considering the claimed weight, this increase in power should improve the pounds-per-horsepower ratio. The last 911 GTS we tested reached 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. It’s likely that the new model will match or even surpass that time, potentially shaving off a few tenths of a second.
