In Heaven Come Down: Stories of the Lower Ninth Ward filmmaker Estée Blancher journeys home to document the opening days of a historic neighborhood in New Orleans, Louisiana.
On December 1, 2005, three months after Hurricane Katrina, the city opened the Lower Ninth Ward for the first time since the storm, calling it a "Look and Leave" tour. From sunup to sundown, residents were allowed to revisit their community and view the remains of their homes.
This raw and emotional short film presents the sadness, anger, hope and, most importantly, faith of the residents when confronted with he reality of what is left of their community.
