A nice little park just off rt80/rt46 in Garfield NJ. A mere 15 minutes from my office. This place needs a little litter clean up but is pretty nice as is. Lots of birds all over the place. I saw a fish try to jump up the middle of the falls and a little duck came by to check me out and forage for food (I think people feed him because he actually got up on the boat launch and walked near me). There is a trail that goes south along the river from the park area that I did not fully explore plus there is a path on the other side of the river as well that looks like a good spot to explore as well. The Passaic River, unfortunately, is one of the most polluted in the country and is listed as a superfund site (the lower part). But I have to say, like many places here in NJ the conservation/cleanup efforts are making a difference....it does not happen overnight, and you should help out - if you see some litter pick it up if you can, I am going to make an effort to come back to this park to clean it up myself, it is close to my office, and just hearing that roar... and the birds... it's worth the effort...
