Steven Spielberg, director of forthcoming film The Post, would donate to Oprah Winfrey’s campaign for the US presidency “without question” if she declared her candidacy.
In an interview with Channel 4 News, the filmmaker tells presenter Jon Snow:
“If she declares her candidacy without question I would donate to her campaign.
“But she hasn’t done that yet. I’m not sure that she intended the great speech she gave on receipt of the Cecil B DeMille Award at the Golden Globes last week. I don’t really believe that was throwing her hat in the ring.
“She was talking about the elephant in the room. There should be no more elephants in the room. We have to talk about it. We have to stop avoiding it. And she said some very important things.”
