Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has revealed a security incident involving one of its IT hardware suppliers. The LockBit ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack. TSMC stated that the incident did not impact its business operations or compromise customer information. The affected supplier, Kinmax, confirmed the cyberattack and apologized to customers for leaked information. TSMC has terminated data exchange with Kinmax and is investigating the incident with law enforcement. The LockBit group's demand of a $70 million ransom raised concerns, as they are known for their prolific ransomware attacks. TSMC reassured customers that their hardware undergoes rigorous security checks before installation.
