Throughout the series, the Elder Trio has always been on the same threat level lore-wise, but Chameleos always felt like it was the weaker one of the three, with its overall easier fight and goofy appearance.
Monster Hunter Rise has done an excellent job making Chameleos a much better and more difficult fight, and this was cranked up even more with the introduction of Risen Chameleos.
So what happens when you crank up a Risen Chameleos?
You get "EX" Risen Chameleos, which I now consider the best fight in all of 5th Gen Monster Hunter and in the top of the best fights in the series along with Bloodbath Diablos.
I cannot describe how much I love this monster. From its design, the environment color change, its amazing animations for any movement it makes or attacks, the well balanced difficulty of its moveset pairing physical attacks with relentless and cruel AoEs. There's just so much going on.
It's my favorite monster in this game now, handsdown.
Risen Chameleos is also the monster I put the most effort in for the music. I hope you got good headphones :)
