In the middle of the CoViD-19 pandemic, what better way to give bored neighbors something to wonder about than start up an airplane engine, right? Actually, since the last runs about two months ago, I have added a 13-row oil cooler and thermostat to the engine. I temporarily attached a little 4" fan and cardboard plenum to blow air through the cooler. I wanted to verify that the thermostat worked and also that the cooler was transferring heat away from the engine oil. On previous runs, the oil temperature red-lined about the same time as the cylinder head temperatures. Not this time, I'm pleased to say! I also had two cameras running for this video, one manned by my friend Darryl, recording the instruments in the cockpit and another on a tripod watching from the outside. I alternated views to give you a better understanding of what's going on. Keep your eye on the nose as I throttled up -- the nose gear definitely compressed from the thrust. I had both wheel chocks and brakes applied to keep it from going anywhere!
