Coco Coir, reusing your grow media successfully. Why it matters, the three big tips. Save money, Same time, and Save labor. What is needed and why it matters on this tip to prep your grow media? I explain what happens when you don't take the right steps, and give tips for making a successful grow following a previous grow. I really like more coco coir brands than others. Canna for example has more initial rinsing of sea salts, and a nice quality of fibers. Start with a good brand, then you can get around three grows before tossing. Pour through, drip, and self-watering systems all benefit from this advice. Anions are electron heavy and tend to bind nutrients in coco coir's nutrient poor fibers. This is good with an initial grow to retain nutrients, but bad when re-using coco coir since bound nutrients will add to the additional nutrients that are presented on a new grow and increase the salts and nutrient content. This is harsh on plants, and will not make for an optimal 2nd grow.
