Turkey has received the first of 10 Airbus A400M military transport planes. The larger A400M will upgrade Turkey's existing fleet of Lockheed C-130 and Transall C-160 cargo planes.
The A400M is longer than both the C-130 and the C-160 and has a broader wingspan.
It has a greater far payload capacity than the two smaller planes given it's wider and taller cargo hold.
The A400M can carry one Chinook helicopter or two light armored vehicles while the smaller planes can only carry a smaller Blackhawk or two Humvees.
It also has a greater maximum range than the two other planes and is capable of mid-flight refuelling.
The handover of the plane was formalized at Airbus' assembly line in Seville on April 4.
