I want to share with you all an amazing video for Philip Glass Etude Nr:5, which was created by Joël Tournemenne.
Views truly represent a mood of the music.
As Philip Glass says, his studies are each an aspect of his person and, ultimately, of each of us. It is a very broad range of emotions, very varied, and therefore a portrait of humanity itself.
Philip Glass in Etudes explores a variety of tempi, textures, and piano techniques. For me, these Etudes are related to Mandalas (a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe). Both Etudes and Mandalas consist of repetitive charts or patterns. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing the attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing a sacred space, and as an aid to meditation and trance induction.
