Callum Hudson-Odoi joined Chelsea in 2007 as part of their academy set-up. The England U17 star is one of the brightest talents on the planet and is set to have a first team role in Maurizio Sarri’s plans for the upcoming season.
The Italian tactician, well known for the ‘Sarriball’ tactic, has heaped praise on the Chelsea youngster after his performances against Perth Glory, Inter Milan, and Arsenal. The 17 year old has started all three pre season games for Chelsea so far, creating multiple chances and looking very dangerous on the break. The youngster even got an assist in the only goal during the Perth Glory match in Australia.
Hudson-Odoi starred for Jody Morris’ Chelsea youth side in the FA Youth Final in which Chelsea won 7-1 on aggregate. Callum was able to capitalise twice and bag a brace in the second leg at the Emirates stadium, meaning he was the top goalscorer for the competition.
There are big hopes for the class of 2018 Chelsea U18s which features the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Billy Gilmour, George McEachran, Conor Gallagher and Daishawn Redan. The future is bright for the current class of Chelsea players coming through. Chelsea have a rich vein of talent but it is rare to see the manager put trust in youth at the Blues, however Sarri has stated his admiration of Callum Hudson-Odoi
