Step-ups strengthen your legs, making it easier for you to do everyday things like climb stairs. You'll need an exercise step, or use a bottom stair in your house.
1. Stand in front of the stair with feet hip-width apart.
2. Step onto the stair with your right foot, then with your left foot.
3. Step down in reverse: Your left foot reaches the ground first, then the right foot.
4. Go at your own pace for about some seconds at a time. For balance, use a railing.
5. Repeat 5 – 10 times
Other exercises that are easy on the knees include biking, swimming, and water aerobics. Water exercise takes weight off painful joint and being active may also help you lose weight, which takes pressure off joints.
